The 1st generation thunderbird was a success outselling the corvette. It was a personal luxury car (when there really wasn't such a thing) that was a 2-seat roadster, but ford felt the sales could be even better. The 2nd generation (starting in 1958) would see the thunderbird grow to 4-seats and offer a hardtop coupe. While such a dramatic change would have doom written all over it, the sales actually took off and grew at a time when almost all other american vehicles didn't. This gorgeous thunderbird was completely restored and built with great care and love. It is dressed in a stunning shade of sahara rose over a beige interior. The car is immaculate all around. The body work and paint were done in 1985 at wolf and gleason auto body. According to the owner, at the time of restoration there was no rust repair needed, the car was a solid example to begin with. The power plant consists of its original 390 v8 engine with, according to the owner, roughly 300 horsepower. It features an automatic, column shift, transmission with a “swing away” steering column. The owner of the car is a master ase certified technician and rebuilt the motor. The ignition was upgraded to a petronix system. The car has power steering, power brakes and power windows. This '62 sits in show quality excellent condition and is a great smooth cruising car! The owner of the car belongs to the vintage thunderbird club senior car and shows it often.
