After re-evaluation the gt6 was born with the michelotti designed body and the more powerful 6-cylinder triumph vitesse engine with a marketing campaign to talk about the racing success. It has been treated to a complete, performance driven restoration finished in desirable sapphire over blue and black two-tone interior. The car is powered by its performance built 2. 5-liter inline 6 cylinder engine, 4-speed transmission with overdrive, and rear wheel drive. Mechanical highlights included dual stromberg carbs, high performance cam, ceramic headers, custom dual exhaust, aluminum valve cover, coil-over suspension, cm external oil filter system with braided lines and oil distribution block, etc. Cosmetically, the car is excellent in all areas. Some will argue that the tr6 is one of leyland’s best achievements, not only for the production numbers but also the design and performance. Almost 100,000 units were produced in the eight year production run from 1968 through 1976 and of those only 8,370 were kept in the uk for retail. These tr6’s featured independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, front disc braks and 15” wheels and tires. Some optional and now sought after equipment is the overdrive that offered a much refined highway gear and a factory steel hardtop. This unbelievably original tr6 is a excellent running and driving car that has always been owner maintained. It has been used but not abused with the miles showing on the odometer believed to be original. It comes out of long term ownership and is offered with its original factory hard top and overdrive transmission. Although this car is showing some signs of age, this is a very dependable car that can be enjoyed as is or would be a excellent candidate for a restoration. The prices on these tr6’s have gone up and this one is priced to move.

Gr auto gallery is pleased to offer this highly original, 1976 triumph tr-6. The car was sold new, april 24, 1976, at george byers sons, inc. Other highlights are tonneau cover and convertible top boot. This tr6 remains in excellent, highly original condition. The engine bay and frame and underside were undercoated by tuff-kote 6 days after the car was purchased new, april 30, 1976 and the paint appears and is believed to be mostly original. As a result, the original core structure of this tr-6 is outstanding. Mechanically, this 1976 tr-6 is one of the best driving tr6's we have had. The car accelerates in all gears, shifts perfectly, tracks straight, brakes properly and behaves well in all driving situations. This car has recently received over $50,000 in renovations and restorations. Much of the work was done at “rods &roadsters” in memphis tennessee. Recent replacements that are brand new include: battery, alternator, wiper motor, water pump, fuel pump, fuel lines, gas tank and gas lines, radiator and heater core, wiring harness, all lights and signals, all hoses and gaskets throughout, all gauges were recalibrated and rebuilt, a/c system installed in glovebox, transmission with overdrive gear, high performance brake kit, brakes, brake lines, pads, calipers, suspension kit, struts, shocks, tie rods, competition springs, clutch, convertible top. The carburetors were also rebuilt. There was also heat and sound matting installed into the interior under the carpet. The car also received a new ignition system.
