Nearly 30,000 td’s were produced from 1950 through 1953. Using the tc drivetrain and y-type chassis, this was a very familiar car to enthusiasts. All-weather protection was offered and consisted of full side curtains and was ultimately “good” for the standards of that time. The td had a supposed top speed of 77 mph and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in just over 18 seconds. This particular td has been in long term ownership since 1984 and has always been maintained, properly stored and driven as it should. This car is going to be priced to sell as the owner states that the top-end of the engine should be gone through as it is burning some oil, however the vehicle starts, runs and drives quite nicely. The transmission shifts nicely as are the brakes.

Mg then made the bold move to create a version of the td exclusively for export. At the time, vehicles produced for use in great britain were assembled with restrictive post-wwii fuel shortage standards. For this generation from 1950-53, nearly 30,000 cars were produced with all but 1,656 were exported. 23,488 of them were directly exported to the united states with demand that exceeded production. This 1950 mg td is an awesome example in clipper blue that comes out of a private collection last purchased in 1975! It was restored at purchase and used by an enthusiast ever since. The care this td has receieved is reflected in its excellent condition making it both a very fun car to drive and show off. The td, which was built from 1950 though 1953 combined the tc’s drivetrain and the saloon suspension with coil springs. In 1950 the td mkii competition models was introduced, produced alongside the standard car, with a more highly tuned engine using 8. 1:1 compression giving it almost 57 hp. It featured twin fuel pumps and a higher ratio rear axle. Nearly 30,000 td’s were produced with only 1700 mkii variants. And of all of them almost 23,500 made there way to the united states. This particular automobile has quite a history. It has been owned by the current consignor since 1960 with title to match. This car has full top with side curtains and tonneau. Another interesting fact is that the motor was replaced using sears and roebuck to purchase the engine through mg. The original receipt is present and comes with the car. The car sat for several years from 2000-2010. Since then the car has had a rebuilt fuel system, brakes and wheel cylinders gone through and tune-up. The car starts on a dime, runs and drives down the road as it should with everything in operational order. The car comes with the stock heater but is not installed.
